The Minnesota Timberwolves were one of the most surprising teams early in the season, winning three of their first four games. However, things turned ugly quickly as they lost their next six matches.
Fortunately, they snapped their six-game skid last night against an unstable Los Angeles Lakers team, and Karl-Anthony Towns could not contain his excitement. He was asked how he felt about finally getting a win, and this is what he had to say:
“It feels real good. Food’s gonna taste good for the first time in a long time.”
KAT has every right to be impressed with his team’s performance, as they took it to the All-Star Lakers team. Their run in the third quarter made the difference in this fixture, as they held the Lakers to only 12 points while putting 40 on the board.

While we would credit the Timberwolves defense for making stops, the Lakers made things a lot easier for them with poor execution. Nothing was dropping for the Lakers who had 21 attempts in the third quarter, but only Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, and Avery Bradley got their shots to fall.
It was indeed a big win for the Wolves, especially since it was a road game. Towns led the team with 29 points, seven rebounds, two steals, two assists, and a block. The game ended in favor of the Wolves in a blowout 107-83 victory.
With all the celebration, Towns knows to focus up and stay ready as they face the in-form LA Clippers next at Staples Center. Although it was a big win, there is a lot more that needs to be done if they hope to qualify for the playoffs.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently out of the playoffs/play-in spots, ranking 12th in the Western Conference standings. Towns, Anthony Edwards, and D’Angelo Russell have been a triple-threat so far this season, but not much contribution is coming from the supporting cast.
