Karl-Anthony Towns’ Mother Has Passed Away Due To The Coronavirus

3 Min Read

No matter your opinions on these troubling times, this current COVID-19 crisis is one of the biggest tragedies to strike our world in decades. With thousands sick, thousands dead, and thousands more at risk, the number of people that have been affected by this virus is truly stunning.

Unfortunately, one of COVID-19’s latest victims happens to be Jacqueline Towns, the mother of Karl-Anthony Towns. In a statement by the family, they announced her defeat in the battle against the global pandemic.

“Jackie, as she was affectionately known among family and friends, had been battling the virus for more than a month when she succumbed on April 13th.

“Jackie was many things to many people – a wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. The matriarch of the Towns family, she was an incredible source of strength; a fiery, caring, and extremely loving person, who touched everyone she met. Her passion was palpable and her energy will never be replaced.”

“The Towns family is extremely grateful for the outpouring of love and support they have received during this very difficult time. They would like to thank the medical warriors at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and JFK Medical Center, who fought for Jackie day in and day out, and helped Karl Sr. recover from the same virus that took Jackie’s life.”

We saw KAT earlier this month make a statement about the virus and the condition of his mother. He was choked up just talking about it at the time and one can only imagine how he and his family must be feeling now.

Hopefully, this serves as another wakeup call to those who have been resisting the idea of social distancing. This virus is a very real and active threat, and it knows no boundaries. Please exercise caution in the weeks and months to come as the world tries to control and come to grips with what has been a tragedy of truly heartbreaking proportions.

Our condolences are with the Towns family and all of those who lost someone as a result of this pandemic.
