Kendrick Perkins: “LeBron James Never Really Played With A Player Like Scottie Pippen”

2 Min Read

Kendrick Perkins tried to make the case for LeBron James in the GOAT debate. The NBA champion joined an Instagram live with Clutchpoints where he discussed the third and fourth episode of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls’ documentary ‘The Last Dance’.

At some point, they were discussing the supporting cast of LeBron and Jordan, when Perkins stated that LeBron never played with a player of the same caliber as Scottie Pippen. He said Jordan was a different type of player, even bigger than Magic Johnson or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, but he also shared touches with a great player in Scottie Pippen.

“Pippen never win the MVP, but he could have been the MVP a lot of seasons. I’m like ‘man, hold up, MJ was playing with another MVP-type player his entire career. I’m like Bron never really played with a player like that until kinda he got AD, and AD never won an MVP. It’s not to knock on AD, I’m just speaking facts.”

That’s an interesting take by Perkins, who did clarify that Bron had shared touches with Kyrie and Kevin Love during his time in Cleveland. However, he did play with great players throughout his career, and perhaps the best of all was Dwyane Wade, who accompanied Bron when he won his first NBA title in 2012.

This is not the first time Perk says this, as he also mentioned that Bron never had a ‘Robin’ playing by his side a couple of days ago after the first two episodes of the docuseries aired.

“When LeBron James was 22 years old he took a Cavs team to the NBA Finals without a Certified Robin!!! Carry on,” he wrote on Twitter.

Kendrick played against LeBron and with him, so he knows what he’s talking about when it comes to James’ quality. However, not everybody will be sold on the idea that he never had a certified Robin by his side.
