In this year’s offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers were fairly active. They traded for Russell Westbrook to form an elite team in the West. Westbrook’s arrival has filled the headlines, but one should not forget that the purple and gold also have Anthony Davis on their roster.

The duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis carried the Lakers on their backs during the 2020 playoffs and helped the team win their first NBA championship in a decade. Last season, Davis was not at his 100% and it was one of the primary reasons for the Lakers not going deep into the playoffs.

This year, the former NOLA star will be looking forward to making a grand comeback. Former NBA champion and now-analyst Kendrick Perkins believes there is no player who can guard AD when he is at his best.

We keep talking about how much fire power, the spacing, and all that. But who in the hell is going to stop Anthony Davis? Please, somebody tell me that. … He doesn’t say a lot, you know. But one thing I’m going to remind you all of is that he’s not feeling all this Giannis getting credit stuff. So I’m thinking, me personally, that Anthony Davis is going to come back next year on a whole another mission.

Over the last few days, all everyone has been talking about is how LeBron James and Russell Westbrook will mesh on the court. However, AD is someone who has, in the past, played like a top-3 player in the league. He did it against the Miami Heat in the 2020 NBA finals, unarguably the most important game of his career.

Just because Davis was injured last year, many people criticized him. In the 2021-22 NBA season, if AD stays healthy the entire regular season and the postseason, it will be a treat for Lakers fans.

Moreover, he has a tremendous impact not only on the offensive end but also on the defensive end as well. How well he can perform could possibly make or break the next season for the Los Angeles Lakers. Do you think Davis can win his second ring with the Lakers or not?
