Devin Booker and Kevin Durant combined for 60 points as the Phoenix Suns defeated the Charlotte Hornets in KD’s debut.

Durant spoke to Bally Sports after the game and had a lot of praise for Booker’s performance but didn’t let him forget that he missed easy free throws in the game.

“He’s just a pure basketball player, somebody that works on his game and it’s translating over to the real game now. He’s one of a kind, he missed some free throws, but he came out tonight and got some good looks up and was able to lead us to this W.”

Devin Booker scored 37 points on the night while Kevin Durant had 23 in his Suns’ debut, letting Booker continue to be the leading man of the team. In games where Book is struggling, Durant is bound to take over and give the Suns the most potent one-two offensive punch in the NBA.

Expectations For Kevin Durant’s Debut Season In Phoenix

Durant will have about 20 regular season games under his belt when the Suns head to the playoffs where he’ll look to give quick returns to Suns’ owner Mat Ishbia for trading for him. The Suns are arguably either the best or the second-best team in the West right now behind the well-oiled Denver Nuggets.

A championship would be ideal but failure to clinch one shouldn’t be treated as a massive issue. The core is under contract and will have the chance to run it back next season with an entire offseason under their belt to further tweak the supporting pieces.
