Kevin Durant is continuing to expand his portfolio of interests outside the game of basketball. An avid supporter of hip-hop artists, Durant has been named among the three Executive Producers of Drake’s new surprise project ‘Scary Hours 3’.

At the end of a two-minute promotional video, it’s revealed that this album has three executive producers, The first is Aubrey Graham, which is Drake’s real name. He’s joined by Noel Cadastre and Phoenix Suns’ forward Kevin Durant.

Durant can be seen talking about his interest in hip-hop music all the time, giving his opinions on the music scene. He released a hip-hop-themed colorway of the KD 15s and is often seen breaking down the hottest new artists, discussing his pre-game playlists, and once even breaking down the superstar namedrops he’s had in rap music over his career.

Durant was brought out as a surprise guest at a Drake concert in Washington D.C. over the summer. The new project will be released at midnight tonight.

Kevin Durant Net Worth

As of May 2023, Kevin Durant has a net worth of $89.1 million. He is in the second year of a 4 year, $194 million deal which will net him $46.4 million in salary this season. The Suns superstar also expects to rake in over $40 million in off-the-court earnings through sponsorships with the likes of Nike, Coinbase, and even marijuana venture WeedMaps.

Durant is an active advocate of marijuana for athletes and could spearhead a change as one of the highest-profile advocates for the substance in basketball, reportedly influencing Adam Silver’s decision to remove it from the banned substances list in the NBA.

He has invested in more than 80 companies through his firm 35 Ventures. Durant also plays a key role in ‘Boardroom’, a media project that Durant owns alongside Rich Kleinman. Along with joining Drake as an executive producer for ‘Scary Hours 3’, he also was a producer for the Oscar-winning short film ‘Two Distant Strangers.

Sports is still sear to him, as KD owns minority stakes in two soccer teams. The first came with his stake in Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union, purchased in 2020. He expanded his interests in the sport by also becoming a part-owner of the NWSL’s Gotham FC. He also owns a Major League Pickleball franchise.

Kevin Durant Hopes To Have A Healthy Season

The Phoenix Suns have had a rocky start to the season. They’re currently 5-6 and are yet to play with their big three of Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal healthy together. Durant has been the most available of the three, playing in all of the Suns’ 11 games so far. He hopes to avoid injury after it’s slowed him down every season since his Achilles tear in 2019.

“Some sh*t is going to happen, it’s going to happen. You try to prevent me from being injured or being out there, I honestly don’t know what good that does. Just let me play. Whatever happens happens and just trust that we’ll figure it out from there. If we do what we have to do on the floor every night, guys won’t have to play 40 minutes a night. We just go to be ready to play.”

Durant is averaging 30.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 4.7 assists. He hopes to deliver on the championship expectations placed upon him but seems ready for the challenge right now.
