Kevin Durant On His Relationship With His Former Warriors Teammates: “I’ll Always Be A Warrior In My Heart.”

2 Min Read

On the surface, Kevin Durant’s departure from the Warriors looked a bit messy.

After three years at the top, KD left Dub Nation amid scandals about his relationship with Draymond Green and doubts about his status as a true member of the Warriors.

Nevertheless, according to Durant, he hasn’t denounced his time with the franchise. In a chat with NBC’s Kerith Burke, he looked back on his time with the Dubs, proclaiming that he’ll “always be a Warrior” in his heart.

“I definitely keep in touch here and there. I seen Draymond this summer, we ran into each other at a restaurant. It was good to see him and his family. I talked to Steph a couple of times. So it’s good to see from afar, see everybody’s doing well and that these bonds that we created will never be broken no matter what jerseys we put on, no matter what part of the country we all live in. From Shaun to Andre to JaVale, Steph, Klay, all of us, Jordan Bell, Omri, Nick Young.

I’m very grateful for my time in the Bay Area. I’ll always be a Warrior in my heart.”

Obviously, Durant has moved on to Brooklyn now, and his partnership with Kyrie Irving seems like a match made in heaven.

But it’s nice to know he still has warm feelings about his time with the Warriors and that, no matter what might have gone down, he still has a bond with the team and with those players.

Depending on how things go, we might even see him and his former team match up in the Finals this season.
