Kevin Durant Recruiting Serge Ibaka To The Brooklyn Nets: “Maybe We Can Win One Together”

The NBA free agency is a couple of days away and we keep learning about the possible moves that could happen in the association. Players and teams are doing their best to lure their favorite assets this offseason and some moves could be extremely beneficial for some franchises. Having a good player recruiting other stars is always good and the Brooklyn Nets have Kevin Durant doing public relationships for the team.

Recent reports have suggested KD is looking to reunite with a former teammate in Brooklyn next season. Serge Ibaka was great in Oklahoma City and the Toronto Raptors, helping the Canadians win the NBA title in 2019. Now his time with the Raptors appears to have ended and the Congolese-Spanish center is ready for the next challenge. Given challenge would come in the form of the Nets, who already have a big bid to win the title next year.

According to Mike Mazzeo of Forbes, Durant is doing some recruiting work to get Ibaka in Brooklyn.

Kevin Durant has been recruiting close friend Serge Ibaka to join the Brooklyn Nets as a free agent, according to league sources.

Durant and Ibaka forged a strong relationship while playing together in Oklahoma City. But the veteran Ibaka, who made $23.3 million last season, would have to take a significant discount to join the Nets.

“We’re very close, he’s like my brother,” Ibaka said of Durant earlier this year to Fansided.

This makes a lot of sense since KD had already told Ibaka they could win it all together last year.

They could never get the job done in OKC and now things can be different. Ibaka will have more suitors in free agency, that’s for sure, but perhaps his relationship with Durant can help the Nets this time. Brooklyn has one of the most ambitious projects in the league and adding the veteran big man will only make things better for them.
