Kevin Durant began his NBA career with the Seattle Supersonics, and he strongly called for the city to get an NBA team again.

The new Phoenix Suns star had a crisp response when asked which city needed a franchise next. And he had a name already as well.

During Saturday’s All-Star media day, the veteran fielded questions for reporters and expressed an interest in Seattle to get the Sonics back again.

Reporter: “KD, what city needs an NBA team?”

Kevin Durant: “Seattle.”

“What are you naming them?” “The Sonics”

Durant’s affinity to the Sonics is well-documented, and he was part of the unit even when they relocated to Oklahoma and changed the name to Oklahoma City Thunder.

NBA Fans React To Kevin Durant Wanting Seattle To Get An NBA Team

Fans shared their two cents about Durant’s wish to see Seattle return to the NBA. Some understood why the team was special for the veteran, while another segment speculated that he would leave the Suns if the Sonics were to make a comeback.

Suns fans were hoping that the two-time NBA champion would bring a title to Phoenix before Seattle would get another team again. They were quite sure that Durant would leave them for the Sonics.

He brings a title to Phoenix and we will drive him to Seattle

If suns fans want to keep KD they have to pray Seattle doesn’t get a team soon because you know he’s gonna want to go there immediately.

They made the man move from Seattle to OKC. It’s personal

Not to mention KD was supposed to be Seattle’s guy. Like Wade and Miami and Giannis and Milwaukee, it was KD and Seattle

A championship buys so much good will. Cleveland hated LeBron the first time he left. The second time we all wished him well and hoped he won a few more championships and went down as the best ever.

He played 1 year here. Almost 15 years ago. But he still loves Seattle. So cool. Hope he can play here again

Can you imagine how revered he’d be by Sonics fans if a) that happened and b) he played a major part in them winning a championship?

One day Seattle will bring back the Sonics. And the city will come out and sing Baby Got Back

Seattle fans are awesome and would give KD unbelievable love. I’ve never rooted harder for a team as a neutral than the 96 Sonics. Make it happen, Silver.

already thinking about his next team before playing a game for the suns

Durant’s wish may end up coming true in the days to come, especially after news that the league is possibly looking at expanding. Las Vegas and Seattle have been looked at as two potential possibilities.

But for now, Durant’s focus and energy will be on winning a title with the Suns, an intent he made quite clear soon after his blockbuster move ahead of the trade deadline.
