  • Draymond Green told the story of inviting Kevin Durant to his wedding personally
  • Kevin Durant supposedly told him he would come and find a girl for himself at the wedding
  • Kevin Durant then didn’t show up on the day of the wedding, much to Green’s surprise

Draymond Green and Kevin Durant played together for three seasons on the Golden State Warriors, winning two championships together. Despite their success, they did have their issues with one another.

After Durant moved on to the Brooklyn Nets, many thought the problems between them would have ended. But when Draymond got married in August 2022, KD was conspicuously missing. And he told the story of what happened

“Of course I invited KD,” Draymond Green said when talking about his wedding on The Shop. “He would have not shown up like…

“The way he sold it to me, I thought he was for sure. The way Slim sold it to me… He told me he was gonna come in there and find him a girl. Something of that nature.”

Kevin Durant and Draymond Green famously got into a fight on the court during the 2018-19 season. The 11-2 Warriors were playing against the Los Angeles Clippers when Green refused to pass the ball to Durant on a crucial final possession.

Kevin Durant later revealed that the argument played a role in his decision to leave the Warriors in 2019, ending what could have been a dynasty that won three or four more NBA championships. His decision to not attend Draymond Green’s wedding in 2022 after telling him he would suggests that maybe everything wasn’t truly resolved.

Stephen Curry Said He Knew Kevin Durant Would Leave After The Argument With Draymond Green

Stephen Curry has been the best player on the Golden State Warriors during this dynasty, but his leadership style hasn’t always been very vocal. Draymond Green takes up that mantle, and it’s not always a good thing considering how many feuds he’s been involved in with his teammates.

Curry once revealed that the fight between Durant and Green was when he knew KD might not be back, saying, “That moment was probably the one where it’s clear that it isn’t a foregone conclusion that he’ll be back next year.”

Draymond Green is a passionate player, he has one of the most unique and valuable skill sets the modern NBA has ever seen. It does rub some people the wrong way though, and probably keeps his teammates away from truly embracing him on and off the court.
