Kevin Garnett had to make some difficult choices when he was presented with a tough ‘Start, Bench, Trade’ game.
The former Boston Celtics superstar sat down with Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles during the ‘Knuckleheads Podcast,’ and while they spoke about different topics, they also gave him quite the challenge.
‘The Big Ticket’ was asked to start, bench, and cut between Rasheed Wallace, Chris Webber, and Tim Duncan. And it took him a bit of time, but he did have his answer ready as he said he would start Wallace, who was a stellar defensive anchor, while Webber, a free-flowing scorer, would be on the bench.
“Yea imma start Sheed, what’s the second one? Imma bench Webb and imma trade Duncan. Cos I know that’s gonna piss him off so when I see Timmy imma get Timmy’s best and that’s what I want, so it ain’t even personal.”
Note that Garnett and Duncan have had their own rivalry during their playing days, and that made for some stellar basketball games whenever the duo would play each other.

Tim Duncan may have had the image of being a quiet guy on the floor, but there have been instances when he did trash talk his opponents, in this case, the player on the other side being Garnett.
He revealed that Duncan had his own style of taking shots, and they weren’t necessarily brash and in-your-face. Speaking on the ‘All The Smoke’ podcast, he shared how the San Antonio Spurs star would dish it out to his competition.
People wouldn’t see him verbally saying stuff, he wouldn’t talk in sentences. Timmy would hit you in phrases. “Gotchu, Ooo, Almost.’ This the worst one right here, “Nice try”. Like subtle sh*t, no gangster sh*t, no real hardcore sh*t.
What really, really, really pissed me off, was when the trash talk wasn’t affecting him. So now, you’re spending all this energy trying to rile this up, you now forgot about your own game… And that’s when I quit talking trash to Timmy.”
Both players have been widely regarded as the best to have played the sport, and while they may have had their competition on the hardwood, there’s no doubt they still have ample respect for each other.
