Kevin Garnett Roasted The Los Angeles Lakers For Their Reported List Of Coaching Candidates: “Man, Are The Lakers Serious? They Not Serious About Trying To Better The Situation With That List Of Coaches.”

Kevin Garnett isn’t one to hold back, he was one of the greatest trash-talkers of all time. KG says what he thinks, and that’s also part of what has made him such an entertaining yet respected part of NBA media in recent years. He can get a bit too harsh at times though, and his latest roast is at the expense of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers are currently searching for their next Head Coach, and whoever it is will have a big job to do, filling the shoes of the championship-winning Frank Vogel. The issue of Russell Westbrook looms large over the franchise as well, and a new coach will likely have to figure out a way to integrate the former MVP, something Magic Johnson recently spoke about.

However, the recent shortlist of coaches doesn’t include any championship-winning coaches the Lakers are looking at coaches that haven’t had a lot of consistent winning experience at the NBA level at all. Kenny Atkinson and Terry Stotts didn’t enjoy radical success with the Nets and the Blazers respectively, while Darvin Ham has only ever been an assistant at the highest level.

And as such, KG has laid into them on his Instagram story, accusing the Lakers of not being serious in their hunt for Vogel’s successor:

“Man are the Lakers serious? They not serious about trying to better the situation with that list of coaches… FOH, they serious? Nah they not serious! They serious.”

There is some truth to what Garnett is saying in terms of the Lakers needing an experienced coach to turn the franchise around. However, those aren’t easily available and a new voice might help bring about the sort of change where traditional methods have failed. In any case, as a Celtics legend, it’s never surprising to see KG bash on the Lakers, but there’s still no way to tell who will actually land the job.
