Kevin Garnett, on his podcast ‘KG Certified,’ expressed his desire for the Phoenix Suns to acquire Tyus Jones from the Washington Wizards, emphasizing the need for a proficient point guard. Garnett highlighted Jones’s exceptional ball-handling skills, efficiency, and playmaking ability, making a case for the Suns to pursue him.

“You know who Phoenix need to go get? Tyus Jones. In Washington. And then I thought about… Start? Start? Start? What? That motherf****other than Halliburton, he is prolific when it comes to being effective and taking care of the ball.”

“He does not turn the ball over, bro. And then, when you think about Memphis when they was playing without Ja, bro, he was the head of that.

“They need a point guard, bro. That’s why that shit look like that, bro. They need a real point guard. Bradley Bill, let’s keep this real. Bradley Beal is a two. Booker is a two. Guess what they wanna do? They wanna score the ball, bro. I don’t want Booker coming down consolidating.”

“I need that motherf***** cooking. That’s what KD-Hot at, bro. They don’t wanna go get a traditional point guard, bro, where they can come down and all these motherf******, you don’t know who you going to. You know what I’m saying?”

Jones, currently playing for the struggling Washington Wizards, has been a standout performer, averaging 12.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game while shooting at an impressive 52.6% from the field and 43.1% from beyond the arc. Garnett highlighted Jones’s underrated status in the league, acknowledging his playmaking prowess and resilience. He is also second in the league in terms of Assist/Turnover ratio with 6.2.

During Ja Morant’s absence last season, Jones played a crucial role in keeping the Memphis Grizzlies competitive. Known for his playmaking skills and low turnover rate, Jones is considered a valuable asset, especially in orchestrating offenses.

The Suns, featuring stars like Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Kevin Durant, currently lack a traditional point guard. Garnett believes that adding someone like Tyus Jones could elevate the team’s offensive performance, emphasizing the need for a genuine playmaker.

As of now, the Suns rank 12th in offensive rating with 116.4, and they are 24th in assist-to-turnover ratio. Garnett believes that Jones’s arrival could address these concerns, allowing Booker and Durant to focus more on scoring, their primary strengths.

Tyus Jones, earning $14 million in the final year of his contract with the Wizards, offers the Suns a potential short-term solution. If the acquisition proves successful, the Suns can consider re-signing him, adding a reliable playmaker to their roster. Garnett’s endorsement of Tyus Jones for the Suns reflects his belief in the impact a skilled point guard can make on a team’s performance.

The Suns Are Starting Look Good

The Phoenix Suns are showcasing their potential as a formidable force in the league, especially when all three of their star players—Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Kevin Durant—are in the lineup and healthy. A recent game against the Lakers served as a perfect illustration of their collective prowess.

Booker ignited the offense in the first half, demonstrating his scoring ability and contributing to the establishment of a solid lead for the Suns. In the third quarter, it was Bradley Beal’s turn to shine, taking over the game and extending the lead to a point where the outcome was all but sealed.

The synergy and complementary skills of Booker and Beal, both elite scoring guards, are evident when they share the court. Adding Kevin Durant, one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history, to the mix elevates the Suns to a whole new level. The trio’s potential is immense, but there’s room for further improvement.

The Suns’ success could be enhanced by acquiring a skilled, pass-first point guard who understands how to distribute the ball effectively among the three stars. A player with a strategic understanding of when to feed Booker, Beal, or Durant could optimize the team’s offensive efficiency.

Looking ahead, the Suns need to focus on building a winning streak and sustaining a high level of basketball performance. Staying healthy is paramount, as injuries could disrupt the chemistry-building process between the three stars. The team’s aspirations to contend at the highest level hinge on the ability of Booker, Beal, and Durant to mesh seamlessly and elevate the Suns to championship contention.
