Michael Jordan is regarded as the best player to ever play in the NBA. Jordan was gifted with a plethora of talents, and he used them wisely to become a legend throughout the course of his NBA career.

But among all the amazing abilities that Michael Jordan had during the prime of his career, his elite scoring was undoubtedly his most lethal skill. Just taking a look at his highest-scoring seasons in the NBA is enough to get an idea of how amazing of a scorer MJ was.

However, does being the GOAT scorer meant Jordan’s game was one-dimensional? Well, Boston Celtics legend Kevin McHale once made a similar point while talking about the difference between Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson.

Kevin McHale On The Biggest Difference Between Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, And Magic Johnson

Prior to Jordan’s rise to stardom, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson were the two biggest stars in the league. The rivalry between them revived the league in the 1980s and regenerated the interest of the audience in the league.

Obviously, the two legends had an impressive skill set, and according to Kevin McHale, they could impact the game without even scoring much. Which, according to him, Jordan couldn’t.

“People always say to me could Magic and Larry play in today’s game? Are you kidding me? And they say what’s the difference between those three guys? Here’s the difference between those guys and I saw it many many times. Larry and Magic could control the game by taking 10 shots. They’d have 17 points, 15 rebounds, 12 assists, 4 steals, if you got Michael Jordan take 10 shots, you control him.”

Considering McHale played for the Boston Celtics, so him taking a shot at Jordan is nothing new. In fact, he earlier did so by saying that the Bulls used to complain all the time. At the end of the day, Michael Jordan achieved a lot of success in the NBA, and he did so by majorly relying on his scoring ability.
