The trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green has led the Golden State Warriors to four NBA Championships over the last eight years.

The Dubs most recently won the 2022 NBA title, and it was a special run, as the Big 3 of the Warriors proved its doubters wrong by winning it all. Speaking of which, Kevon Looney recently revealed that Steph, Klay, and Green are petty kings.

“That’s what Steph, Draymond, and Klay do. They hear all the noise…You don’t think they do, but then they do a press conference and talk about stuff from 6 months ago. I don’t even know how they saw it. Those three are definitely the ‘petty kings.'”

Looney has been with the Warriors for eight seasons now and has closely watched the trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.

With the Dubs all set to face off against the Sacramento Kings in the 2023 playoffs, many are doubting the strength of the defending champions. Considering the Kings are the higher seed, they are the favorites to defeat the Warriors for many media members.

Are The Warriors Lucky To Face The Sacramento Kings In The First Round?

The 2022-23 NBA season ended with the Warriors finishing as the sixth seed in the West with a 44-38 record. Now, it’s certainly underwhelming for the defending champions of the league to finish sixth the following season.

But according to NBA analyst Brian Windhorst, it’s a blessing in disguise for them. Windhorst believes the Dubs hit the jackpot by getting the inexperienced Kings in the opening round of the postseason.

“They get the sixth seed, will get the inexperienced Sacramento Kings starting this weekend,” Windhorst said. “Don’t have to travel, they can take a bus to those games. At the start of the week, we saw the Clippers, Lakers, and Warriors all unsure where they were going to go. One team was going to get the Suns in the first round, not ideal. One team was going to have to go into the play-in, not ideal. One team was going to get the sixth seed, get the Kings who are formidable but inexperienced and weaker defensively. That was the sweet spot (and) the Warriors hit it.”

To be honest, the Warriors have been terrible on the road this season. They had an 11-30 away record in the 2022-23 campaign.

Fortunately, playing against the Kings will save travel time for the Warriors. It will help the trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green stay fresh and at the top of their game to take help the Dubs in winning back-to-back NBA titles.
