Klay Thompson Has Suffered Season-Ending Achilles Tear

2 Min Read

Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson has reportedly suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in his lower right leg, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports. Klay was getting ready for his return to the NBA after missing the entire 2019/20 season. Thompson suffered a leg injury while working out on Wednesday, setting the alarms for the Warriors.

Every report pointed out that the injury was serious, and even though the Warriors were hopeful to see their star returning to action at some point during the next season, that possibility is off the table right now.

Last year, he tore the ACL in his left knee while playing against the Toronto Raptors in Game 6 of the NBA Finals; the Warriors lost Klay and the series that day, with Klay famously taking two free throws before leaving the court.

This is not a good situation for the player and his team; when he returns, he will have two years without playing a single NBA game. The Warriors lost one of their most important players in Klay and now they’ll face a challenging season without half of the Splash Brothers.

NBA players have shown their support to Thompson on social media during this difficult time.

It’s unclear what version of Klay we will see when he returns to the league, but everybody is wishing him a fast recovery.
