The Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors are battling it out in the Western Conference Semifinals of the 2023 NBA playoffs.

It’s also the reunion of Klay Thompson and LeBron James, who had several battles in the postseason when James was a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. After Game 2, Thompson talked about once against facing James in the playoffs.

“LeBron’s one of the special players, the Michaels, Kobes, LeBron, who bring out the best in you, especially from a competitive standpoint,” Thompson said. “It’s always an honor to match up against the greats. It’s not us vs. LeBron James, though. They have a very complete team, the Lakers do. The fact that he’s still doing it at 38 years old is incredible and inspiring for athletes everywhere.”

Klay Thompson was the star of the Warriors’ Game 2 win. He recorded 30 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist while shooting 11-18 from the field, including 8 three-pointers made.

As for LeBron James, he had 23 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal while shooting 10-18 from the field, including 3-8 from downtown.

Klay Thompson Says Playing The Lakers In The Playoffs Is A Dream Matchup For Him

As a child, Klay Thompson grew up as a Los Angeles Lakers fan, partly because his father, Mychal Thompson, played for them.

Klay talked about playing against the Lakers in the playoffs prior to the Western Conference Semifinals. He revealed why it’s a dream come true for him.

“It’s special. Playing LeBron in the Finals four times, who is obviously one of the greatest to ever play, and Anthony Davis is right there as well, we’ve played AD in the playoffs too. Watching that last series against Memphis, it looks like they’re gelling. Their guys know their roles, and it’s going to be a huge challenge for us, but we’re all excited to play the Lakers. It’s a legendary franchise. Warriors and Lakers, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other in the playoffs. I know I am personally excited that I get to play in front of my father, mother, my best friends, and go down to SoCal after our home stand. It’s just a dream come true, I’ve waited for this for 12 years.”

Thompson’s wait of 12 years is finally over, and he is having a great series so far. Speaking of which, the series is currently tied at 1-1.

The Warriors will face off against the Lakers in Los Angeles for Game 3. Klay will play a crucial role in the Dubs’ hopes of taking a 2-1 lead over LeBron and the Lakers.
