Klay Thompson is one of the best-paid players in the NBA. In 2019, Thompson signed a massive 5-year, $190 million contract with the Golden State Warriors. Meaning that he is not struggling for money at all. Despite this excessive wealth, Klay is known to live a pretty standard lifetime, with very few massive expenses.

However, one thing that Thompson did indulge in was buying a boat. Thompson owns a massive boat that he is often seen riding, especially on his Instagram stories. Klay is clearly very fond of his boat and has even given it a name, as he recently revealed.

In an interview with NBC Sport, Thompson revealed to the world the name he had given to his boat, one of his most prized possessions.

The reasoning behind those names was based on the way the boat behaved in a body of water. He also added how frequently he sails his boat and even plans to take part in an upcoming tradition in San Francisco known as ‘Fleet Week’.

“I have a few names for it. I call it the ‘Nordic Knife’ or ‘Splash Express’. “She was made in Finland, so that’s Norwegian I think. She cuts the water like a knife, so I call her the Nordic Knife. People are like ‘why would you name your boat after a weapon?’ I’m like ‘it’s not a weapon it’s just the way she rides.’ It’s so fast. Then Splash Express is when I’m carrying my friends on board and we’re commuting.”

“Yeah, no question. Gotta go out for Fleet Week. There’s a lot of boats out there, but it’s the vibe.”

Klay clearly loves his boat and has even used the boat to reach the Golden State Warriors’ Chase Center, which is close enough to a body of water that allows Klay to do so.

This season, Klay will be making his return to the Warriors after nearly 2 and a half years out with multiple major injuries. Thompson has noted that he expects this season to be a bounce-back year for himself. And given his love for the ‘Nordic Knife’, it won’t be a surprise if he shows up to these games riding on his boat.
