Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry are the defining backcourt of the modern generation. There aren’t many backcourts that can claim 12 years together with 4 titles, but Steph and Klay can.

Thompson sent a heartfelt message to Curry after the Warriors’ Game 4 win, appreciating everything he’s done on the court and hoping they’re remembered as one of the greatest guard pairings in league history.

“I’ve admired Steph long before he was a Warrior, when he was at Davidson, I was a fan. I went and watched him play in Anaheim against UCLA. I was amazed by his skill and ability. Then to be drafted with the Warriors and be his two-guard for as long as I’ve been, it’s been nothing short of amazing. I just appreciate his hard work. I get to see it every day. The guy is in the best shape for a reason, he doesn’t take shortcuts, and he’s a great family man. He’s wise beyond his years, I think Steph has been the same age since 2012. He’s a simple person but he’s a competitor. Just to still be out here playing in playoff games with him. These times, I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. Hopefully, we can carve out a legacy as one of the better backcourts to ever play this game.”

It is hard to dispute their claim as one of the best backcourts ever due to the sheer time they’ve spent together as teammates. They are arguably the best duo in the NBA still.

Not many guard pairings get to be teammates for 12 years and have the luxury of winning 4 titles in that span. This is a truly generational duo who can add to their legacy by coming back from 2-0 to beat the Kings in the first round.

Klay Thompson Proving Injuries Couldn’t Stop Him

Before the 2022 title win, Klay Thompson’s entire career was in jeopardy. He hadn’t played basketball since the 2019 Finals and had to recover from a torn ACL and then a torn Achilles. One of those injuries can end your career, let alone both. Klay came back stronger and was crucial in their title win last season.

Klay is even better now, averaging 21.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists on the season. in the playoffs against the Kings, Thompson has been putting up 20.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. He is still a highly valuable impact player for the franchise and is still going to be the x-factor when it comes to them pulling off wins.
