Kobe Filed ‘Mambacita’ Trademark For Daughter Gianna Less Than A Month Before Their Deaths

2 Min Read

Kobe Bryant was a dominant basketball player, brilliant businessman, and an exceptional role model. But, more than anything, Kobe was a family man. He was a father to his daughters and husband to his wife, Vanessa.

In fact, in the helicopter ride that cost him his life, he was on his way to take his daughter to a tournament.

Gianna was a mirror image of her father — a hard-working embodiment of the “Mamba mentality.” So much so, in fact, that Kobe recently filed for a “Mambacita” trademark for her.

ET has learned that less than a month before the two tragically died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, on Sunday, Kobe filed a “Mambacita” trademark for Gianna. The name is a play on the Los Angeles Lakers star’s famous nickname, “Black Mamba.”

The trademark, filed on Dec. 30, 2019, included plans to use “Mambacita” on everything from athletic sweatshirts and sweatpants to hats and jerseys.

He clearly had big plans for GiGi, who was just 13-years-old.

With dreams of making it into the WNBA, she was following in her Father’s footsteps and becoming a basketball star before everyone’s eyes.

We’ll never get to know what she would have become, but something says it would have been quite the sight to see.
