Kwame Brown is a much-maligned figure in NBA history. After being the No. 1 overall pick by the Washington Wizards in 2001, Brown was expected to develop into an All-NBA caliber center. However, that development never came, and Brown is remembered as one of the worst No. 1 overall picks in recent history, despite having a 12-year NBA career.

Brown has not been happy with how he’s been treated by sports media. He went on an infamous rant where he targeted former players turned media members like Matt Barnes, Stephen Jackson, and former teammate Gilbert Arenas.

Arenas and Brown played for the Wizards from 2003 to 2005 before Brown was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. They feuded as teammates, and Arenas hasn’t stopped making comments on Brown since. Kwame responded directly to the negative things Arenas said about him in a recent appearance on The Pivot podcast.

“I don’t wanna talk about that guy, after he mentioned putting a pistol to my throat…He’s definitely what’s wrong with our community, because he’s a coward…Do you think Gilbert Arenas would say that about J.J. Redick?”

Arenas has had a lot of unflattering and unprovoked comments on Brown in recent years. He called him a ‘f***ing drunk’ and a locker room cancer, while also attacking him when Brown commented on LeBron James hunting for stats and comparing him to Kobe Bryant. Arenas responded by saying Kobe would never check the stat sheet because he knew Kwame would have 0 points

Who’s In The Right Between Gilbert Arenas And Kwame Brown?

Gilbert Arenas has many controversies in his career that portray him in a negative light. His gun incident with Javaris Crittenton is the first to come to everyone’s mind. However, his attacks on Brown have been extremely aggressive and needless. Brown’s response isn’t any lighter, as it seems the two have a very strong dislike for each other.

Even if there is no road to reconciliation, the pair should stop making public statements against each other. Arenas going on Instagram rants to disparage Brown shouldn’t have happened, and Brown didn’t need to respond with a personal remark which also drags JJ Redick’s name to prove a point.
