Kyrie Irving is hoping to replicate the magic of last season in 2024-25 with the Dallas Mavericks as the franchise aims to return to the NBA Finals but also win the Larry O’Brien this time around. Irving was recently confirmed to have suffered a broken hand, but insider Marc Stein has revealed that Irving is set to be fully cleared in time for training camp in late September.
“He’s very limited at what he can do at this point. He has not been cleared yet for full five-on-five hoop, but basically, what I’ve been told is he remains on course to be cleared in time for training camp. So I don’t think there’s any concern there.”

Kyrie Irving changed the narrative of his career last season, playing team-first basketball to help the Dallas Mavericks reach the third Finals in franchise history. While they lost, Irving has emerged as a leader in the Mavs locker room. He averaged xxx last season.
He has been injured for the last month but took the initiative to organize an informal team camp in California, which was attended by every player spending their offseason in the country. Kyrie Irving Recruited Klay Thompson To The Mavericks
Kyrie Irving has been doing everything he can to help the Mavericks move closer to a championship, being the principal figure in the team’s recruitment of Klay Thompson. Head coach Jason Kidd revealed how Irving convinced Klay to join the Mavs by using himself as an example after tough seasons with the Nets and Celtics.
“When you talk about the recruitment, it was a lot of people that were involved in that. But one of the biggest players in that was Kai. Kai being able to, player to player, (detail) his experience of what Dallas has been like for him in two years and being able to tell Klay the honest truth of what he thinks can happen with Klay coming to Dallas.”
Irving’s pitch to Klay convinced the four-time champion to leave money on the table with his hometown team, the Lakers, who had LeBron James personally recruit Thompson to the franchise.
Jason Kidd also believes Klay’s addition is what the team needs to break through the championship barrier.
“We truly believe that he gives us something that we haven’t had, a guy who’s not afraid to take the shot. He’s been in championship situations. He understands what it means. We believe that we’re building a championship team.”
The players on the Mavs are happy to be there, primarily because of the energy that Irving, Kidd, and GM Nico Harrison have fostered in the locker room. There are a lot of tough teams in the West who are being picked ahead of the Mavs, so they have to continue bringing results out of their good vibes.
