Kyrie Irving has stolen most of the headlines this offseason as his future continues to be a much-discussed topic among NBA circles. A breakup from the Brooklyn Nets seemed to be on the cards initially after they were swept out of the first round by the Boston Celtics, only for a report to come out in the New York Post, which stated Kyrie was to stay with the Nets.

Recent developments, however, claim that the two sides are at an impasse and Shams Charania reported that Irving looks to be on his way out of Brooklyn. With all the noise surrounding him at the moment, Kyrie put out a mysterious tweet that seems to indicate that he might be out.

Irving is someone who tends to go against the grain and he remains defiant in his beliefs. That’s what led to his refusal to take the vaccine despite mounting pressure from all sides, and he believed he was standing up for people by taking this stance. He also referred to himself as a martyr once which offended many, including Stephen A. Smith.

Irving has alienated a lot of people with his stances and, despite it potentially causing an exit from the Nets, he is not going to change one bit. That’s the risk that whatever team might try to sign him takes, as they won’t be able to control him in any way. He apparently gave the Nets a list of teams he’d be interested in and, as per Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers seem to be the only one among them with significant interest in having him onboard. It speaks to how much his value has tanked, that teams are passing up on the chance to get their hands on a 7-time All-Star, who has averaged over 23 points per game in his career. We now wait and see what comes next for Irving, but be assured, wherever he goes, controversy will follow him soon after.
