Kyrie Irving is one of the most electrifying players in the NBA. As a result, he is made for some of the biggest stages in basketball. He has excelled when the lights have shone the brightest, hitting probably one of the most clutch shots of all time in the 2016 NBA Finals over Steph Curry.
Madison Square Garden is an iconic venue in basketball, even if the New York Knicks haven’t been competitive for large periods of time. Kyrie has not been able to play at MSG since he joined the Brooklyn Nets in 2019 and is relishing his chance to be able to play in the rivalry match in the Knicks arena.
He spoke about playing the Knicks tomorrow in MSG and his excitement for the same.

“You’re trying to make me go viral over here. You know how that series goes between us and the New York Knicks, and that’s been the way since I’ve been a fan of the Nets since I was a kid. It’s going to be action-packed. it’ll be an exciting environment where you don’t know what to expect, it’s the Mecca. What better way to close out the final few games of the season by playing in one of the most historic arenas in the world? We just got to bring it and look forward to the back and forth action. The Knicks are going to be ready so we just got to be prepared.”
Sadly for Kyrie, the Nets won’t have a guaranteed playoff spot to play for, as they were eliminated from the top six race tonight. However, the Nets are still trying to solidify their position as the 7 or 8 seed for the play-in tournament. Irving has previously expressed not wanting to predict the future when asked about Brooklyn’s championship hopes.
Kyrie Irving has averaged 25.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per game in his 26 games against the Knicks in his career. Let’s see if he can better these in their game tomorrow.
