It is easy to forget that there was a time when Kyrie Irving and controversies did not go hand in hand. He was a well-liked figure among NBA fans during his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers and his fame reached its peak in 2016.

That was, of course, when he hit one of the greatest clutch shots in NBA history in Game 7 of the Finals to complete their historic comeback from down 3-1 against the Golden State Warriors. 2016 would also be the year that Kyrie famously dated singer and songwriter Kehlani.

Their relationship wouldn’t last for long though, and while there was some controversy on how things ended between them, the two are on good terms now. Kehlani remains quite popular, and she went viral not too long back when she put out quite an interesting video on TikTok.

Kehlani certainly raised the temperature of the room through the roof with that one. She continues to make waves online and her fans just can’t get enough of her.

As for her former boyfriend, he has been trying to navigate through some rough waters for a while now.

Kyrie Irving Declined To Answer Questions Regarding His Long-Term Future

Not many would have predicted back in 2016 that Kyrie would end up down the road he is on currently. He has become a very polarizing figure and his latest pit stop is with the Dallas Mavericks after he requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. Irving felt disrespected by the Nets, who were also not willing to give him the kind of contract he desired, as he would be a free agent in the summer.

His impending free agency and the controversies he could cause at any time made him a big risk, but the Mavs went with it, anyway. Irving has now refused to talk about his long-term future with his new team, as he feels it creates a distraction. Everything is going well for now though, but Kyrie has changed his mind rather suddenly when it comes to his future in the past. The Mavs would be hoping that this gamble they have taken pays off, or else they might see Luka Doncic leave the franchise at some point in the future because of it.

His passion for the sport was ignited after witnessing the high-octane offense of the Steve Nash-led Phoenix Suns. Among the Suns, Shawn Marion stood out to Gautam as an all-time underrated NBA player. Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
