Lakers Coach Frank Vogel Wants Anthony Davis To Shoot 5 Three Pointers A Game This Season

2 Min Read

Following his first NBA Championship victory, Anthony Davis’ place among NBA history is becoming an increasingly relevant talking point.

The 7x All-Star, who averaged 26 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game last season, took a big jump with the Lakers, fleshing out his perimeter game and maintaining his status as an elite paint protector.

Interestingly enough, for this upcoming campaign, Lakers coach Frank Vogel wants AD to shoot even more — at least five attempts per game.

For reference, that “5 attempts per game” goal is above what KCP averaged last season — and he’s probably the Lakers’ best pure shooter right now.

Amazingly, though, it’s not a ridiculous ask for the Lakers big man. On an average of 3.5 attempts, he was able to knock down 33% of his shots beyond the arc, a pretty respectable mark for a 6-10, 253-pound power forward.

If he’s able to find more success in the upcoming season, it might lead to more than just success for AD. With new acquisitions and a year of Championship experience under their belt, the Lakers have got to be coming into this feeling pretty good about their chances.

If Davis starts shooting like Steph, it will only help their odds.
