Kemba Walker was once an All-Star-level point guard during his time with the Boston Celtics. However, as of now, he remains a free agent, as his decline from star-level form has been unfortunate.
However, it seems as though the point guard may get another chance in the league. A recent report from Peter Dewey Of Lakers Daily revealed that Kemba Walker may get a chance to join the Los Angeles Lakers, as they are bringing him in for a workout.
“Sources tell Lakers Daily that the Lakers are considering bringing in Kemba Walker for a workout,” said Dewey. “The team is looking for another ball-handler with LeBron James expected to miss extended time due to a foot injury.”
It was recently revealed that LeBron James avoided surgery, but could potentially miss the remainder of the regular season. This move thus makes sense from the Lakers’ perspective, and perhaps Kemba Walker can be a part of the solution.
Kemba Walker last averaged 8.0 PPG, 1.8, and 2.1 APG for the Dallas Mavericks, and it’ll be nice to see him get an opportunity with the Los Angeles Lakers. Hopefully, he can have a big-time impact on the team.
The Los Angeles Lakers Can Still Make The Playoffs
The Los Angeles Lakers still have an opportunity to make the playoffs this year, and there is at least a realistic play-in tournament opportunity. Team guard Dennis Schroder has already stated that “everybody in the locker room” believes that the team can get to the playoffs.
“The goal was from the beginning of the season, to make the playoffs,” Schroder said. “And I think everybody in this locker room believes it, I believe it 200% and I mean, we’re going to make the playoffs.”
There is no doubt that the Los Angeles Lakers have enough talent to make the playoffs, especially with the players that they acquired at the trade deadline. D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, and Jarred Vanderbilt will all be key down the line. The Lakers definitely have enough to make some noise when the playoffs come around, but they have to get there first.
Hopefully, we do see the Los Angeles Lakers make progress towards making the play-in tournament in the coming weeks. They have a winnable stretch coming up, and we’ll see what ends up happening in the future.
