A 2-10 start to the season meant getting to the playoffs was always going to be an uphill climb for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Injuries to Anthony Davis and LeBron James made it that much tougher and the team finds itself in near must-win scenarios nowadays. Former Laker Derek Fisher believes though that being in a situation like this would help the team come playoffs.
“You’re getting playoff-like experience in the regular season,” Fisher said. “Those great teams that could cruise, it was because of the playoff experience and this group which is new, so many new faces. It is really good for them to be in a lot of these must-win situations, big games, (and) a lot of these guys speaking about it in their interviews. It’s going to bind them together in a really good way and hopefully, it’ll pay off with some wins.”

It is good in a sense to be in playoff mode before it even begins but that also means you are at risk of not making it in and the Lakers certainly aren’t a lock at the moment. What makes it even more difficult is that LeBron is set to be out of action for a while and he might not be able to play in the regular season.
Dennis Schroder Is Certain That The Lakers Will Make The Playoffs
Belief does remain strong within the organization that they will make it in, with Dennis Schroder stating after the win over the Oklahoma City Thunder that they will make the playoffs. They weren’t able to make it back-to-back wins without James, though, as they lost 110-102 to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night.
The blow from that loss was somewhat lessened by the fact that the Los Angeles Clippers, Utah Jazz, New Orleans Pelicans, and Portland Trail Blazers all lost as well. They got a bit fortunate but there won’t be too many more occasions when so many of the other teams they are competing with end up losing.
