The Los Angeles Lakers have recently eked out a win against the Charlotte Hornets in overtime, winning 126-123. There is no question that the game was a thriller, but in the end, the more experienced team prevailed.

Anthony Davis and Carmelo Anthony were both key parts of the win. Davis put up 32 points and 13 rebounds, while Carmelo Anthony poured in 29 points off the bench, shooting a blistering 70% from beyond the arc.

NBA Fans were ready to make their comments after the matchup. Any showdown between the LaMelo Ball-led Charlotte Hornets and the Los Angeles Lakers with Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook will have a lot of eyes on it, and this was no different.

Many claimed that the Lakers made it harder on themselves. A lot of people also were ready to praise Carmelo Anthony’s performance, with some suggesting that he should win the Sixth Man of the Year award. Others criticized Russell Westbrook’s performance, despite his triple-double.

There’s no question that the Los Angeles Lakers made some mistakes over the course of the game, but that’s something that can be fixed over the course of the season. No one expects the team to be perfect 11 games into the season. This win shows that the Lakers can get wins while LeBron James is still out, and it’ll be interesting to see if they are able to stay afloat until James returns.

While Carmelo Anthony had to “swallow his pride” when he originally took on a bench role with the Portland Trail Blazers, he has done well coming off the bench thus far for the Lakers. He is currently averaging 17.6 PPG being the 6th man, and as some have mentioned in the comments, Anthony could get that award at the end of the season if he keeps playing at this level.

When LeBron James gets back, this Los Angeles Lakers team will be dangerous. There’s no doubt that this team has a lot of talent, and perhaps we’ll see them reach their potential as a championship team in the future.
