The Los Angeles Lakers are getting ready to face a new NBA season where everybody’s eyes will be on them. Following a tumultuous 2022-23 campaign, they are ready to bounce back, especially after bringing some new faces to the locker room. Besides the veterans that found their way to Crypto.com Arena, the Purple and Gold will have more pieces to rely on to have a successful season.

Of course, Austin Reaves is expected to make a big leap this campaign, but the Lakers also have rookies that could make some noise throughout the season, as Darvin Ham hopes to get the best of his team.

One of those is Cole Swider, a Syracuse alumni that joined the 17-time NBA champions on a two-way deal and is ready to prove his value.

Cole Swider Talks About The Lakers Group Chat

Just like many NBA veterans, Swider has a podcast where he talks about several things, including his NBA career, of course. During a recent episode, he talked about the Lakers’ group chat, revealing that he was picked on for using his full name while also talking about the way LeBron James introduced himself.

“So Anthony Davis started a group chat with the team, and he says, ‘everyone drop their names’, and of course, I’m the first one, I put my whole name, Cole Swider. Next thing you know, everybody’s putting their nickname, LeBron posted a King emoji… Patrick Beverley was like, ‘Mr. 94’, AD just putting ‘AD’, some people putting their first names and I was the only person to put their full name. Next thing you know, AD and LeBron are making fun of me. So, it comes with the territory, I’m a rookie, so you just kinda go from there.”

Of course, LeBron and AD would be the ones picking on Swider, who learned one of his first lessons in the league at that moment. Hopefully, he can learn more about the game from James and Davis, who need all the help to take the Lakers to the promised land once again. Swider will spend his time between the G League and the NBA, trying to make an impact that allows him to stay with the bigger team.
