LaMelo Ball Thought That Michigan Is In Detroit: “My Mom Said She Lived In Michigan And That’s In Detroit”

LaMelo Ball might be good at many things, but apparently, when it comes to remembering states or cities, he struggles. Back in 2018, when Ball was starting to gain the attention of scouts and fans on social media, a video appeared of the then-16-year-old.

In the video, Ball was surprised to learn that Michigan is not in Detroit. Apparently, he believed that because his mother lived in Michigan and that’s in Detroit.

Ball: We in Pennsylvania? I know Michigan in Detroit.

Horace: You can’t be serious.

Ball: My mom said she lived in Michigan and that’s in Detroit.

Horace: You got to get a tutor, dog.”

Well, it has been more than three years since Melo trended on Twitter for the wrong reasons. Hopefully, by now, he has improved his geography news.

The one thing that he has improved is his basketball skills. LaMelo was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets with their third pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

There was still a bit of uncertainty about how well Ball will play at the NBA level. As it turns out, Ball had a tremendous rookie year, averaging 15.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game. All while averaging 43.6% from the field.

Over time, Ball’s number will improve even further and he has the potential to become one of the best players in the league in the future.

Can LaMelo Ball End The Hornets’ Playoff Drought?

It has been five long seasons since the Hornets last played a postseason game. However, things are finally starting to look bright for the team.

They have a young star who can become the center of rebuilding the team in a few seasons. But as things stand right now, Charlotte is not one of the favorites to make it to the postseason, let alone win a ring.

The franchise is trying to change that and one move is to potentially sign LaMelo’s brother LiAngelo Ball to strengthen the bench.

If the team adds LiAngelo to its roster, it will highly improve their chance to end their playoff drought. What are your thoughts about it? Where do you see the Hornets finish up in the upcoming season with LaMelo Ball as their star?
