Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was one of the many who were highly critical of LaVar Ball for all of his antics a few years ago. The CEO of Big Baller Brand has now called out Abdul-Jabbar in stunning fashion over his kids, during an appearance on Vlad TV.

“Pay attention to what’s going on with your folks,” Ball said. “But I bet you this, how about you research and see what’s going on with his kids… Does he have kids? … Even if you check them out, they not known like my kids and now you want to say something about a father.”

Vlad told the 56-year-old that Kareem has five kids with three different women, and Ball called the Hall of Famer out over it.

“He got five kids with three different women and he wants to tell me something,” Ball continued. “Now, I bet you some of them kids is in trouble… I guarantee you. Use your information that you trying to get me to say I’m bad for sports and pay attention to your family, you’re not going to do that, but I guarantee you, I don’t even have to look, I don’t even know.”

LaVar then revealed the reason for his line of thinking.

“I’m thinking under the guidance of your father, if your father’s Kareem, you’re not paying attention,” Ball added. “So, what I’m saying is, you gonna go into a negative route without no guidance and you’re gonna do something on that bad side. That’s how it happens.”

(starts at 0:36 mark):

LaVar has never been one to shy away from saying something controversial, so I’m not surprised he made such statements. So, did some of Kareem’s children get in trouble?

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s Kids

Kareem and his ex-wife Habiba Abdul-Jabbar (born Janice Brown) have three kids. The eldest is Habiba Alcindor, who was born on May 15th, 1972. She claims to be a writer, producer, dramatist, director, and social justice activist.

Their second child, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Jr., was born on August 23, 1976. He became a professional basketball player like his father but then later pursued an acting career.

Lastly, we get to Sultana Abdul-Jabbar, who was born in April 1979. Not a lot is known about her life as she has kept things private.

Kareem then separated from Brown and got into a relationship with Cheryl Pistono. They have one son, Amir Abdul-Jabbar, who is an orthopedic surgeon.

So far so good, but, unfortunately for Kareem, his youngest son did land himself in trouble, and it was no joking matter. Adam Abdul-Jabbar was born to Kareem and his ex-girlfriend Julye Ods, and he was charged with stabbing his neighbor in 2020.

Adam pled guilty to four counts, including assault with a deadly weapon, as per TMZ. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail and two years probation in 2021. The neighbor, Raymond Windsor, did survive the attack.

I don’t know how truthful Lavar was when he stated that he didn’t know anything about Kareem’s children, as this was a big story back then. If he really didn’t, then I guess you have to hand it to his skills in terms of identifying such things without having any real idea about it.

What Did Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Say About LaVar Ball

You have to go a while back to know what Kareem had said about LaVar. Ball had, of course, risen to fame back in 2017 with all his bold claims about his son Lonzo, and Kareem was not a fan of the antics.

“Everybody knows about his sons because he has been able to hype them. But I don’t think that’s good for college basketball,” Abdul-Jabbar said. “College basketball is starting to look like a…it doesn’t look good. It looks like it’s a huckster show. And that bothers me, you know. You have people going those lengths to promote their kids. I don’t get it.”

Supporting your kids and hyping them up is what every parent is supposed to do, but many, like Kareem, felt he went overboard. We haven’t really seen anyone go down the LaVar Ball route since then, though, so it didn’t really end up becoming a trend as some had feared it might.
