LiAngelo Ball’s son LaVelo just turned a year old last week and LaVar Ball is already making big predictions about the toddler’s future. LaVar hilariously promised in a viral video that his grandson would be the No. 1 pick one day.

“That’s how it goes, don’t let that happen again,” Ball said. “No. 1 pick right here, trust me when I tell you. Triple Bs finna run loose.”

I don’t think anyone is all too surprised about LaVar making such a statement. The 56-year-old had made many bold claims along these lines regarding his three sons, Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo, and to his credit, he was almost proved right.

Lonzo was selected with the second pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers while the Charlotte Hornets selected LaMelo with the third pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. With that, they became the first set of brothers to both be drafted in the top three in NBA history, which is remarkable.

It would have been quite something if LiAngelo had also been a top draft pick, but he went undrafted in 2018 and hasn’t even gotten a chance to play in the NBA. He had a couple of stints in the G League and last played for Astros de Jalisco in Mexico. It’s unlikely that the 25-year-old will ever play in the NBA but at least time is on his side.

LiAngelo not turning out to be an NBA star doesn’t mean his son LaVelo can’t be one. We’ll have to wait quite a while to find out whether LaVar’s prediction about his grandson comes true, though, as the earliest he would able to enter the draft under the current rules would be 2042.

LaVelo was born on July 19, 2023, to LiAngelo and his girlfriend Nikki Mudarris. Mudarris, 34, is a former reality TV star who rose to fame when she appeared as a supporting cast member in the first two seasons of Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood. She then became a main member and went on to appear in various other shows as well.

Once her reality TV career ended, Mudarris became a realtor in Los Angeles with the Watson Salari Group, a Coldwell Banker team. It is unclear when she and LiAngelo started dating, but they first crossed paths during a hike at Runyon Canyon. They got into a relationship a few weeks after and now have a son together.

LiAngelo wasn’t the first of three brothers to become a father, though. Lonzo and his now-former girlfriend Denise Garcia welcomed a daughter, Zoey Christina, on July 22, 2018. I think it’s only a matter of time before LaVar claims that she will be the first pick in the WNBA Draft at some point.
