LaVar Ball Says One Of His Two Sons, LiAngelo Or LaMelo, Will Win Rookie Of The Year

LaVar Ball has always shown tremendous faith in his sons, Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo. And while a Father’s pride is usually unshakeable, LaVar takes things to another level.

Speaking on “The Truth” podcast, he made yet another guarantee, promising that at least one of his boys (Lonzo or LiAngelo) would win ROTY.

“[LaMelo Ball] will be rookie of the year. Only way he won’t is if [an NBA team] gets Gelo. He’ll average 27 points. No 2 minutes here, 5 minutes here, end of the game. I’m talking about letting him play, play. He’s always been a scorer, he’s got a big body, durable. He’s got both legs working. He’s been killing folks on one leg. Let that sucker player and he’s not gonna let his little brother win rookie of the year.”

In a draft class that includes guys like Anthony Edwards, James Wiseman, and Obi Toppin, to pick LaMelo as the ROTY so early on is certainly a debatable move.

To pick LiAngelo, who just got released from the Detroit Pistons, is even more controversial.

Nevertheless, we’ve seen this type of confidence from the Ball family before. Since Lonzo was picked up by LA in 2017, LaVar has been plastering himself in front of the cameras, doing whatever he can to talk up his family and jeep his children in the spotlight.

This year, optimism remains high about Melo, but we’ll see soon enough if he’s good enough to prove his father right.
