The Los Angeles Lakers have had to wade through a proverbial ocean of criticism this season, their performances and lack of wins have seen fans of their franchise boo them at the Crypto.com Arena. So when the Lakers do manage to get a good result that was somewhat unexpected, it’s no surprise that their stars want to highlight it a little bit.
Russell Westbrook might just have become the most criticized superstar in the history of the league this season, it seems like almost every single misstep he has made in each game has been highlighted and made fun of on social media this season. If he takes nothing else from his time with the Lakers though, he’ll still have the shot he made against the Raptors in the win on Friday night, one that even had Drake shook.
And LeBron James wasn’t going to miss an opportunity to back up his teammate either, sharing the photo of Russ’ celebration on his Instagram and calling out the haters that have been incessantly going at Westbrook in recent months.
kingjames: “Mood. Hi Haters!”
James and Westbrook combined for 58 of the Lakers’ 128 points during the game, adding 17 assists between them as well. While Westbrook hasn’t been anything close to an ideal fit for the team this season, this game can work as a much-needed confidence boost for the team.
The Lakers are a franchise that could do with just about any positivity that comes their way, even this OT win over the Raptors just managed to pull them within 10 games below .500. A play-in spot is looking like it’s within reach and even if it’s not the optimum position to finish, it will allow the Lakers to have their destiny in their own hands.
