Tyronn Lue is widely viewed as one of the best coaches in the league. He is well-versed in making adjustments and is a championship-winning coach. He has also done well with the Los Angeles Clippers this season, leading them to the play-in tournament despite missing Paul George and Kawhi Leonard for a large portion of the season.
During the Los Angeles Clippers – New Orleans Pelicans game, LeBron James called Tyronn Lue the best coach in the game. This happened when the Los Angeles Clippers had a double-digit lead on the New Orleans Pelicans. The Pelicans did end up winning the game though, behind a 30-point performance from Brandon Ingram.

It was announced that Paul George would be out for this matchup, due to him being put in health and safety protocols. As such, many people expected the Pelicans to win due to their star duo of Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum. The fact that Tyronn Lue managed to put them in a position to potentially win without their top stars shows how good he is as a coach,
The Los Angeles Lakers actually had an opportunity to hire Tyronn Lue in 2019, but the negotiations ended up falling apart. Lue claimed that the Lakers believed that he was only coming “to coach LeBron”, and added that he didn’t think he was “treated fairly”.
Lue had an opportunity to reunite with James when the Lakers interviewed him for the coaching job in 2019. But the Lakers offered Lue a three-year deal worth $18 million, far below the five-year, $35-million deal he had with the Cavs, and wanted to dictate Lue’s staff. Lue pulled out of negotiations and the Lakers hired Frank Vogel.
“The Lakers [saw it] more so as like [I’m just] coming to coach LeBron,” Lue said. “No, I’m coming to win. I just didn’t think I was treated fairly. And I wasn’t just going to accept any offer just to get a job.
“I just thought I was better than that.”
The Los Angeles Clippers have missed the playoffs in a heartbreaking fashion, but they will likely be a contender next season. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George will be back, and that duo is definitely good enough to win a championship.
Tyronn Lue is the perfect coach for the Los Angeles Clippers. Hopefully, he gets an opportunity to compete for a championship next season, and due to his coaching ability and the Clippers’ own star power, they will be a force to be reckoned with.
