As the NBA’s biggest young prospect in years, Bronny James is set to shake up the league in a major way.
A lifetime of training and genes handed down from one of the NBA’s greatest players is sure to make James Jr. a highly, highly lucrative prize in the 2024 draft.
But after LeBron’s statement to The Athletic in a recent article on Saturday, anticipation has now reached astronomical levels. According to ‘King’ James himself, he has every intention of joining forces with his son — wherever he might land — when he joins the NBA.
James said Saturday he’ll go anywhere to play with his son, Bronny James.
“My last year will be played with my son,” James said. “Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”

Bronny is currently a junior at Sierra Canyon High School in Los Angeles. The NBA’s current rules mean he’ll be eligible for the draft in two and a half years. James’ current deal with the Lakers expires in 2023, meaning he’ll probably sign a one-year contract that summer so he can create a path to join Bronny in ’24.
The idea that LeBron would wait around and join forces with his son is nothing new. That possibility has been teased for years now.
What’s surprising is that, even in year 19, James still is an elite player. He’s having his best season as a Laker so far, averaging 29.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per game on 52% shooting.
If he’s anywhere close to that level by 2024, his move could drastically alter the fortunes of whichever team gets lucky enough to draft Bronny.
Needless to say, that 2024 Draft is shaping up to be a real game-changer for the NBA.
