The Los Angeles Lakers are entering an interesting 2022-23 NBA season where they’ll have a lot of attention on them. The Purple and Gold were a big disappointment last campaign, not even making the play-in tournament, earning a lot of criticism in the process.

Now, they have a younger team to help LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook compete for a playoff spot in the Western Conference, but many people still doubt they will make a big splash this upcoming campaign. LeBron is healthy, AD is healthy and ready to go, and Westbrook is showing good things at the gym.

It seems like this team is in a position to compete in the West, but last season taught us that we need to wait before making any prediction about these Lakers. Meanwhile, they’re trying to be in the best spirits ahead of the season, and LeBron’s words are the best example of that.

LeBron James Confidently Says He’s Anthony Davis’ Best Friend

Talking with reporters, the King talked about the expectations for AD this upcoming season. The 4x NBA champion was inquired about Davis’ adjustments this offseason, but James said the answer to that question belongs to the Brow, instead saying that he’s happy to play with the big man, hilariously claiming they’re best friends.

“Whatever he told you, guys,” LeBron said. “I’m happy to be his teammate, extremely proud to be his best friend. He will say I’m not his best friend, but I’mma take it with me. I’m his best friend, I don’t care what he says. It’s just an honor for me to be teammates with such a great player, even a better person. You can ask him how he’s feeling coming into his third year here.”

The Lakers have a lot of pressure on their shoulders this season. They didn’t make big moves this offseason but did add some interesting pieces that can help them compete. With a solid group of role players and their Big 3 intact, Darvin Ham will try to lead this squad to the promised land. It won’t be easy, nobody expects them to be great right away, but perhaps this is the beginning of something good for the Lakers.

As long as their star best friends stay healthy and play at a great level, they will have a chance to compete in a complex Western Conference.
