LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis, And James Harden Are The Only Players Who Have Been Consecutive All-Stars The Last Five Years

2 Min Read

The modern NBA superstar has to deal with immense pressures through the course of a season. As some of the best players in the world, a top star has to play at the highest level on a nightly basis through the course of an 82-game season.

Very few players are able to do so at such a high level consistently. And for those that are able to step up to expectations, they get the honor of being called All-Stars. Each year, the NBA allows fans, players, and media to vote on which players will have the distinction of representing the NBA in the All-Star game.

Earning an All-Star nomination is by no means easy, as it is a representation of the best of the best in the league. Over the last few years, we have come to define players who consistently make the All-Star game as ‘perennial All-Stars’.

But despite what many might think, there aren’t many superstars in the NBA who are regularly All-Stars. In fact, only 4 players in the NBA today have the distinction of being All-Stars consistently for at least the last 5 years.

The players with consistent All-Star appearances with no interruption are LeBron James (17), James Harden (9), Anthony Davis (8), and Giannis Antetokounmpo (5). To be able to keep this consistency is no small feat.

In fact, mercurial talents like Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and Kyrie Irving among others have struggled to do so, whether it be because of their health, or their overall form.

Because these players are consistently some of the best in the NBA, they are regularly involved in the festivities that take place at All-Star weekend. For the NBA, these players are the true flag bearers of the sport, representing the pinnacle of basketball at its absolute best.
