LeBron James In 2019: “I Know You’ve Been Reading And Saying I Haven’t Been Playing Defense The Last Couple Years. It’s A New Year.”

LeBron James demonstrated he hasn’t slowed down a bit, not even after four months of rest that could affect the momentum he had before the NBA entered hiatus. Bron didn’t have the most spectacular game on the offense but he did good things on the other end, stopping the Clippers’ advances to score throughout the game.

In the end, Bron’s defense played a big role in the Lakers 103-101 victory over the Clippers, who had the last shot of the game but Paul George missed after, yes, LeBron James guarded him.

After that, a video has resurfaced of Bron announcing he was going to play D this year. During a game between the Lakers and the Oklahoma City Thunder, James had a little exchange with a referee, making it clear that he was going to play defense this season.

James: “I know you can read and seeing I haven’t been playing defense the last couple of years, but it’s a new year. It’s a new year.”

Davis: “I have not said that. That has never come out of my mouth — [motions to inbound the ball] — that’s never come out of my mouth.”

Well, James confirmed that on Thursday night, locking down Kawhi Leonard, preventing Paul George from making the game-winner shot and more. Even when he’s not sharp on the offense, he still can impact the game on defense. If you have Anthony Davis carrying the team, there isn’t much to worry about Bron.

Be ready, because these Lakers seem to be even more dangerous than before.
