• LeBron James associate Randy Mims’ name was featured in the DEA probe of Biogenes Clinic

• The probe wreaked havoc in baseball, causing 21 players to be suspended, including Timberwolves’ minority owner Alex Rodriguez in 2014

• LeBron James was cleared of any wrongdoing or consumption of PEDs by the DEA

The Biogenesis Clinic almost brought down baseball in the 2010s as the clinic was providing many players with performance enhancers that disgraced star players like Alex Rodriguez. In new documents obtained by ESPN, it’s been revealed that LeBron James‘ longtime associate, Randy Mims, was involved in the case as well.

Mims was purchasing testosterone for personal use from Carlos Acevedo and was listed as LeBron James’ manager in record files. However, Mims allegedly used the product for a few months before cutting ties with Acevedo. Mims was reportedly looking to lose weight fast, with the DEA thoroughly investigating whether Mims purchased it for James.

The scandal goes far deeper than just the inclusion of Mims, who is definitely one of the more minor names in the case. The NBA wasn’t affected by this crisis, though the MLB is still feeling its effects almost 10 years on.

Was LeBron James Innocent?

The DEA categorically said that there was no involvement from LeBron in this case, but Mims wasn’t the only James associate in this matter. James’ occasional trainer in Miami and Cleveland, David Alexander, was also thoroughly investigated for his dealing with Acevedo. Alexander co-owned a juice company alongside Savannah James and was her personal trainer as well. The DEA investigated this link and had this to say about LeBron.

“I can tell you that we looked into everything just because we knew this day would come… She (Savannah) wasn’t getting any supplements or anything like that… There was never any indication that LeBron James did anything wrong.”

If LeBron was caught in a doping scandal, it’d be one of the biggest news stories in sports history. The DEA is a governmental agency and did its due diligence, which should be enough of an indicator to show LeBron cannot be held accountable for the actions of his associates.

LeBron James Has Been Accused Of Using Steroids Before

When you have the athletic makeup of LeBron, you’re always going to be fighting off accusations of doping. The NBA is one of the strictest leagues with screening for performance enhancers, as evidenced by the 25-game suspension Deandre Ayton got in 2019 for using diuretics.

Chael Sonnen, a former UFC Middleweight Championship contender has repeatedly said that James is on the juice, going so far as to say that they have the same sources to get their steroids. The accusations have been baseless and James has never tripped up on a drug test in his career.

With a desire to play in the 2024 Olympics, James is likely as clean as he can be given the strict anti-PED screenings that are conducted at the Games.
