LeBron James is finally within reaching distance of the most notable regular season achievement of all time, the all-time scoring record. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar racked up 38,387 points in his 20-year career but it looks like LeBron will surpass Kareem within the next 3 games.

Every game until he breaks the record is primarily going to talk about LeBron reaching this historic milestone before the All-Star break. James has told reporters and fans that this isn’t the final bow on his career as he is determined to continue playing in the NBA for at least a couple of more years.

LeBron James on chasing the NBA’s all-time scoring record: “I’m going to do it. It’s just a matter of time when I’m going to do it. I’m not going anywhere. I’m going to be in this league for at least a few more years.” pic.twitter.com/kIPmDFwF0F

“I’m going to do it. It’s just a matter of time before I’m going to do it. I’m not going anywhere. I’m going to be in this league for at least a few more years.”

Kyrie Irving recently spoke about how we need to soak in the LeBron show while it lasts but it seems the man himself is on a mission to ensure he can continue playing in the league for much longer. The championship quest may not be over just yet, even though the Lakers are miles away from winning a title at the moment.

Are We Witnessing The Greatest Career In NBA History?

LeBron could have retired in 2016 and have his career be an undeniable success story that allows him to sit in the pantheon of greats. However, he has continued achieving in the years since by making it to 3 Finals and winning one, while breaking all concepts of what a 38-year-old should look like in the NBA.

Michael Jordan might be the greatest player ever for what he achieved in his unbeatable prime. James hasn’t been unbeatable, but we have never seen any player come even close to having a 20-year prime. As James continues to chase Jordan’s status as the all-time greatest, averaging 25+ points up until age 40 or later while competing at a high level in the playoffs may allow him to get it done.
