LeBron James sent a big message to former teammate JR Smith, giving him a shoutout on Instagram. This is more important than it looks, as the Lakers reportedly have interest in Smith, who has been a free agent since last season

Last season, JR played in 11 games with the Cleveland Cavaliers before the franchise exiled him. The Cavs waived JR after being unable to find a trade partner for him.

Smith averaged 6.7 points per game with the Cavs last season. He will always be linked to the Lakers since he has a rapport and history with LeBron. He’s another shooter the team could use alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

The veteran has career NBA averages of 12.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.
