Shannon Sharpe Explains Why LeBron James Is Better Than Kawhi Leonard

1 Min Read

Among the staunchest of LeBron supporters, Shannon Sharpe is probably the most widely known.

As a full-time sports analyst and part-time “King” defender, he routinely sticks up for Bron — even in his 16th year.

He had to stick up for James again on Fox Sport’s Undisputed, after being presented the idea that Kawhi Leonard was a better player.

The numbers speak for themselves. James is averaging 25 points, 10.8 assists, and 7.8 rebounds per game on 48% shooting as he leads the Lakers to a league-best 41-12 record. Kawhi, in probably his best season as a pro, is putting up 27.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 5.3 assists on 46% shooting.

For his entire career, LeBron James actually matches Kawhi’s averages for this season alone. James, over 16 years, has averaged 27 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.4 assists on 50% shooting.

And while the case can be made that Kawhi is having a better year than James, there is no arguing that LeBron is the better player overall. Of course, we’ll see how things transpire in playoff time.
