LeBron James is well and truly on his way back as the Los Angeles Lakers took to Instagram to provide a positive update on his injury and his return.

Captioning his post with a crown and an hourglass emoji, the King took to the gram to post an animated image of him recovering in a recovery chamber — much akin to Goku in Dragon Ball Z. This sent fans into a tizzy as they believed that the veteran would soon suit up for the Lakers.

James last played against the Dallas Mavericks, sustaining an ankle injury in the process. He has since missed seven games, making LA’s clash against the New Orleans Pelicans the eighth-straight game that he will be sidelined.

The veteran’s post comes as welcome news for the team that’s desperately clawing its way back to playoff contention.

The Los Angeles Lakers Need LeBron James

They may have rattled a string of wins in James’ absence, but there’s no denying that the Lakers need the 38-year-old if they intend to make the playoffs and make a deeper run if they get there.

James has been on an absolute tear this season averaging 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 6.9 assists — all this while battling a dodgy ankle throughout the tournament. LA is 33-35 at the time of writing, a record that seems so much better than their final 33-39 run last year.

And while the likes of Anthony Davis, D’Angelo Russell, and Dennis Schroder have been playing their parts, there’s no doubt that the unit will welcome James back.

With the forward expected to be re-evaluated in a couple of weeks, his latest update comes as a sign that he’s recovering faster than anticipated. Only time will tell if the Lakers can hang in there before their Goku arrives.
