In the aftermath of the Lakers’ blowout win over the Mavericks on Sunday, NBA superstar LeBron James didn’t waste any time hunting for the closest television. In a video that is going viral online, you can see LeBron fresh after the game sprinting down the hall to catch the closing minutes of his son’s game.

USC hasn’t been very good this season but Bronny has looked good recently. He’s a starter for the Trojans right now and is showing flashes of star potential in the backcourt. For LeBron, a supportive father, he makes it a point to watch his son’s games whenever he can, and he was able to tonight since the Lakers game started so early. He even continued watching the game during the press conference in the locker room.

James is clearly invested in Bronny’s basketball career, as he should be. As soon as next season, the two could potentially be together on the court and as father-son teammates for the first time ever in the NBA.

 Bronny’s NBA Future

Following in the footsteps of an NBA legend is never easy, but Bronny James is handling the pressure well, all things considered. Despite a serious health scare this summer, diagnosed as a “congenital heart defect” by experts, Bronny has made a full recovery and is in good health across the board. For USC this season, Bronny is averaging just 5.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game on 34.8% shooting for the season but he’s played just 9 games and continues to make progress from game to game.

Looking beyond this season, Bronny is expected to declare for the NBA draft but nobody can agree on where he’ll get drafted. By himself, James is seen by scouts as a borderline first-round pick but his history and ties to LeBron obviously make him a more intriguing choice than most other prospects. But it’s still far too early to draw any conclusions about his game and you can bet he’ll be working hard to improve his game over the weeks, months, and years to come.

LeBron’s Ultimate Dream

It’s no secret that LeBron James aims to team up with Bronny when/if he makes the league. With a player option for next season, LeBron has the choice to become a free agent this summer and join whatever team his son gets drafted to. Right now, it’s impossible to say which team will ultimately take the young prospect but it could also bring the opportunity to sign LeBron and that will shake things up in a big way.

Regardless of what comes next basketball-wise for the King, we know that he’s in a different chapter of his life now. As he shifts his focus away from the grind of NBA basketball, he’s going to have more nights like these — watching and supporting his kids do what they love. The hope is that he’ll get to eventually play with Bronny at the highest level of the game, but in the meantime, he’s going to enjoy every bit of the moment while he still can.
