LeBron James is a special player, there are no two ways to look about it. The King is in his year 19 in the league and is still in the talks of being the best player in the world. Moreover, he is edging closer to breaking several records this season.
One of which was becoming the only player in NBA history to have 10K+ points, rebounds, and assists to his name. James already had 10K+ points and rebounds to his name, the only thing missing was reaching 10K assists.
Well, LeBron reached the said number in the Los Angeles Lakers’ most recent game against the Phoenix Suns. Upon reaching this incredible milestone, LeBron was asked about his thoughts on the same. James said:
Via ESPN:
“To now sit alone at a statistical category in this league that I’ve really modeled my game after: being able to score, rebound and assist. I sit alone at a stat is pretty like — I’d say ‘cool,’ but it doesn’t quite make sense to me. I get lost for words anytime things like this are happening to me because of where I come from. I automatically start thinking to my hometown of Akron [Ohio] and my upbringing and where I come from and the dreams that I had of being in this league and playing at the highest level.”
He continued, “My teammates congratulated me after the game. My mom texted me, I believe at halftime, I saw it after the game. It’s an honor to be a part of this league and no matter what’s going on this season, you try to take the victories that happen throughout the course of a long marathon. And tonight is one that happened not only for myself but for my family and friends.”
Although LeBron reached this unique milestone, it must have been a bittersweet moment for him. Despite LeBron’s best efforts, the Lakers were blown out by the Suns as the scoreline stood at 140-111 at the end of the game in favor of the Suns.
The defeat led to NBA fans trolling the Lakers. With the season almost over, the Lakers are in a tough spot. Can the King somehow carry the team to a good postseason run, if any?
