A hilarious scene played out during pre-game warmups before the clash between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Houston Rockets on Saturday night. As Dillon Brooks started his ritual of staring down the opposition’s bench, LeBron James started staring at him, but the Rockets forward completely ignored him.

I would find it hard to believe that Brooks wasn’t able to see LeBron from the corner of his eye at any point there. He still chose to ignore James and continued on with his ritual. Funnily enough, this wouldn’t be the only time this happened on that night.

LeBron stared down Brooks after scoring a tough and-one on him in the first quarter itself. That was part of a strong first half for James, who scored 14 points in the period, but he cooled down after that.

The 38-year-old ended the night with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block, as the Lakers won 107-97. Brooks, meanwhile, had 10 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist in the contest.

The History Between LeBron James And Dillon Brooks

While this beef between LeBron and Brooks is one of the more prominent ones in the NBA, it isn’t really all that old. It all really kicked off in Game 2 of the first-round series between the Lakers and the Memphis Grizzlies, when the two got into a heated argument on the court. Brooks also stared down LeBron later in the game.

What came afterward are the comments that will live on infamy. Brooks insulted LeBron by calling him old and said he doesn’t respect anyone until they score 40 on him. All eyes were then on these two ahead of Game 3 and they did exchange words before the contest.

LeBron would end up getting the last laugh there as the Lakers won the series in six games. Brooks was widely mocked for poking the bear that was James, but he maintained didn’t regret his actions one bit. He is not the type to back down and that’s become crystal clear at this point.

Brooks even reignited the rivalry with James before their first meeting this season and the Rockets managed to blow out the Lakers 128-94 in the game as well. The Lakers then won the next two, though, and you can expect some fireworks in the last meeting, which will be on January 29.

Dillon Brooks Called Out The Referees After The Game

Many would have wondered if we would see another altercation between LeBron and Brooks in this third meeting, but it didn’t happen. Instead, James and Rockets head coach Ime Udoka got into an argument, which saw the latter get ejected. After the game, Brooks was very critical of the officials for how they handled the situation.

“I tried to push LeBron away from it. The refs just let it get out of hand. A terrible group out there that was reffing, and they lost control of the game, and it was very inconsistent.”

You could actually see Brooks trying to prevent the situation from escalating by stopping LeBron from getting to Udoka. James wasn’t going to stop, though, and kept exchanging words with the Rockets head coach.

It is a nice change to see Brooks trying to be the peacemaker for once, instead of trying to instigate as he tends to do from time to time. Just don’t expect him to do it all that often, though.
