Luka Doncic And Jalen Brunson Had An Interesting Exchange On Twitter Amidst Doncic Proposing His Longtime Girlfriend
The Dallas Mavericks allowed Jalen Brunson to sign with the New York Knicks in 2022 as a free agent. Brunson blossomed into a star in the 2022-23 NBA season averaging 24.0 PPG, 3.5 RPG, and 6.2 APG.
Brunson led the Knicks to an Eastern Conference Semifinals exit as they were eliminated in six games vs. the Miami Heat. On the other hand, the Luka Doncic-led Mavericks failed to even qualify for the playoffs. The two former teammates recently engaged in an interesting conversation on Twitter.
"You see my boy put a ring on it?" Brunson tweeted.
"You still didn’t answer the question," Doncic responded.
Luka Doncic recently proposed to his longtime girlfriend Anameria Goltes. Brunson congratulated Doncic for turning a new chapter in his life.
Doncic was least bothered by it. If anything, he wanted Brunson to answer whether he missed him or not.
Luka Doncic Admitted He Misses Jalen Brunson
The Mavericks made a huge mistake by letting Brunson walk away from the team. Apart from being a talented player, he had phenomenal chemistry with Doncic.
Doncic and Brunson were teammates from 2018 to 2022. Keeping that in mind, it's no surprise that they forged a great friendship during their time together. So much so that Doncic admitted missing Brunson last season.
"A lot. I mean, you know amazing guy, amazing player."
Adding Kyrie Irving to the roster may fill Jalen Brunson's spot as a player. But they won't be able to fill the gap he left as a friend for Doncic.
Hopefully, Luka forms a great friendship with Irving in the 2023-24 season. Otherwise, the Mavs will run the risk of suffering from chemistry issues and they may end up missing the playoffs once again. Last season, the Mavericks finished as the 11th seed in the West with a 38-44 record.
