2 Min Read

Luka Doncic surprised everybody last year, playing great basketball in his sophomore year, showing an evolution that nobody saw coming from the Slovenian player. He led the Dallas Mavericks to the postseason when nobody expected anything from them. This season the challenge is bigger and Luka is well aware of that.

Given all the good things he did last year, Doncic is considered the favorite to win the 2021 NBA MVP and the player has expressed his desire to win the coveted award. Talking to ESPN’s The Jump, Doncic revealed his expectations for this season, even reflecting on his MVP chances. The young player made it clear that he believes in himself and he thinks he can get the job done and earn the award in only his third season in the association (3:23 mark).

“I think I can do it. But that is not my first goal. Far from it. It is great to see that. But my goal is to always win a championship. I don’t think it is just mine, it is the whole organizations’ goal. Hopefully, someday we can achieve it.”

His evolution and improvement have been remarkable and Doncic isn’t stopping there. The former Real Madrid star has the talent and the tools to become one of the best, if not the best players in the NBA with the Mavericks. Doncic is just starting his life and his NBA career. The future is bright for him and the Mavs hope to enjoy his talents for many years to come.
